Same Donkey Combo that you know and love with the Donkey Long Tong 80cm and Donkey Tong 69cm, together, but with a few tweaks that make it even more proudly South African. Both tongs get a solid yellowwood handle (our national wood) with an asymmetrical shape to give you the Ultimate Grip. On top of that, we patina the stainless steel on both to give them a beautiful golden finish. One arm of each tong is engraved with icons of South Africa that make you think of Mzansi every time you see them.
The first release in our Art Tongs range, made specifically for Heritage Day. Includes custom wrapping, stickers, and a Certificate of Authenticity for each tong. Nothing says "Heritage Day" like this.

Please note: the gold finish is a patina, not plating. Like any patina, it can wear or rub lighter in high-contact spots with regular use and cleaning.

Clean your tongs
Get some hot water, soap and a microfibre cloth. That's it. Wipe them down with soap and water and they're ready to use again.
Note: if you use abrasives, the gold will wear off during washing. As these tongs get used, silver marks will start to show through. It helps them develop character. That's part of the fun.

Please note: tongs must be unused/undamaged, with original packaging intact. Because this product is handmade, small variations in colour, grain and patina are normal (including between the two tongs in your set) and are not considered faults.
FAQs about the Donkey Combo - Heritage Edition
Over time, yes. That's the nature of a patina. High-contact areas will show wear first. Treat them gently and they'll last. Use them hard and they'll each get a look all their own.
Both tongs are made by hand, to order. Thus, please allow 2 weeks before your Combo ships. Trust us when we say it is worth the wait.
One arm of each tong is engraved with a scene of South African icons. If you look closely, you'll notice a springbok, a rugby ball, a blue crane, a galjoen and more. The other arm on each stays blank and ready for you to personalise.
You can. Simply follow the instructions on our page to personalise your tongs with either a typed engraving or a handwritten one. Please note: this engraving will be on the opposite arm to the icons.

No. Both tongs are 304-grade stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant and made to last. Fires are tough. Your tools should be tougher.
