We Do Black Friday Differently. Here’s How.

We believe in supporting local and upskilling South African artisans. We believe that as a community and as a country, we have what it takes to make a global impact.

We’re great with our hands and have an even better way with stories; especially if they are shared around the fire. And the stories we want to share are the ones written in stainless steel, leather, and craftsmanship.

So yes, we do Black Friday, but we do it our way.

How we do Black Friday Specials

Every year, as October ends and November begins, the same questions arrive in our inbox:

“When are you launching your Black Friday deal?”
“Are you having a sale?”
 And sometimes, simply, “SALE?!?!”

The answer? We believe that local, handmade brands aren’t built for discount culture. They’re built on skill, hours of labour, and artisans who pour themselves into every stitch, every engraving, and every product.

So instead of dropping prices, we choose to raise the standard. Instead of asking consumers to “buy more for less,” we invite them to "buy more for more". To buy better, buy local, and be part of a legacy. That’s our mindset.

Why We Do Black Friday Differently

Everything we make, from the Donkey Long Tong 80cm to the Jack Sack, comes with a story, not just a barcode.

We believe in:

  • Sustainable Black Friday choices

  • Supporting local artisans

  • Building a community that values longevity

Because here’s the thing: A product made by a South African artisan isn’t just “another item.” It’s someone’s craft and livelihood. We want our customers to be a part of that journey.

Our Black Friday Special

Last year, while everyone else was looking for Black Friday sales in South Africa, we decided to do something different.

Not 50% less, but 50% more. And only 50 of these products available.

We crafted 50 Limited Edition "Black Sacks", made with a rare African blackwood called Mpingo and paired it with black leather. To top it off, we added a custom canvas lining that showed off the hoof of the Donkey. Each one came with a numbered brass plaque, ensuring that every Black Sack was unique. A collector’s piece for fire lovers.

Those fifty Black Sacks were about artistry, sustainability, and crafting something that could be passed down. That’s how we celebrate Black Friday.

What’s Coming for Black Friday 2025?

The question on everyone's mind this year?
“What is Donkey Long Tong doing for Black Friday 2025?”

Well, we’re doing what we always do. Something handmade, local, and of quality.

We’ve been collaborating with a few friends to bring you something special for Black Friday 2025. Something proudly South African, beautifully crafted, and designed to uplift the people behind it.

Keep an eye on our socials… Trust us, you’ll want to be part of this one.

The Donkey Way: Handmade. Sustainable. Built to Last.

So while the rest of the world is chasing Black Friday deals, we’ll be right here around the fire, doing what we do best. Crafting tools that last a lifetime.

Because Black Friday doesn’t have to be about rushing and spending. It can be about impact, legacy, and community.

And that’s what we’re here for.
