Karoo Kubs Explorers Club: Raising Adventurers, One Wild Weekend at a Time

Posted by Donkey Long Tong on

Many great stories start with “Back in my day…” and end with someone surviving a wild escapade or pulling off the impossible. The point is usually the same: we used to be tougher, braver, and a whole lot dirtier (in the best way). And somewhere in every one of those tales, we circle back to the same conclusion: “Kids these days just don’t get it.”

Now, don’t get us wrong, we think today’s kids are fantastic. But we’ve noticed it too: time spent outdoors is shrinking fast. Maybe it’s winter. Maybe it’s modern life. Whatever the reason, parents everywhere are struggling to give their kids the same kind of wild, hands-on adventures they grew up with.

That’s why we've partnered up with Just Like Papa, who created the Karoo Kubs.

What is Karoo Kubs?

Karoo Kubs is a kids' outdoor adventure club for families looking to reconnect with nature, build practical skills, and spark a lifelong love of the outdoors.

The Kubs learn, laugh, build fires (safely), pitch their own tents, and even braai their own food like true little South Africans.

The Karoo Kubs Explorers Club

At the heart of Karoo Kubs is a mission: to inspire kids to get outdoors, stay curious, and build confidence in nature. We teach core values through wild, muddy, memory-making adventures.

Through Karoo Kubs, we:

  • Inspire Exploration - Encourage curiosity and discover the wonders of nature
  • Promote Community - Bring together like-minded families
  • Foster Respect - Teach kids to care for the environment and all living things
  • Encourage Educational Growth - Deliver hands-on outdoor education that nurtures future conservationists

We believe that a deep connection to nature builds strong kids and even stronger communities. When children learn to explore, respect, and protect the world around them, they grow into the kind of people this planet needs.

The Karoo Kubs Weekend Away

We don’t just talk about these lessons, we live them.

A few times a year, we pack our bags, load the bakkie, and head off for a family-friendly weekend adventure getaway in the heart of nature.

These weekends are:

  • Safe and age-appropriate
  • Wildly educational
  • Full of stories your kids will tell for years

Your children will:

  • Set up their own tent
  • Build and manage a fire safely
  • Braai their own meat
  • Explore local ecosystems
  • Bond with fellow young adventurers

And yes, parents get to join in too. Because the best kind of bonding happens under the stars, doing something unforgettable together.

Giving Back Through Adventure

Every item in the Karoo Kubs product range supports more than just your child’s growth. 100% of profits go to the Just Like Papa Trust, which funds charities across South Africa that support kids, families, education, and conservation.

So when you support Karoo Kubs, you’re investing in the next generation of adventurers and giving back to the country we love.
